Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum...

Norman Lindsay (1879-1969) and his second wife Rose Soady bought the property in 1912 and re-named the estate “Springwood”. Norman lived here up to the time of his death at the age of 90.

The Norman Lindsay Gallery is run by the National Trust, the sandstone cottage is presented as the showplace of a major collection of Lindsay’s work including watercolours, sculptures, ship models, novels and an exhibition of models from his classic children’s book “The Magic Pudding”.

In the landscaped grounds there are approximately fourteen sculptures, pots and urns in the garden. All of the originals sculptures were made of concrete, in the 1980’s a decision was made to copy some of the sculptures to protect them from environmental and physical damage. The copies were made of bronze and the original works were moved inside the gallery.

Norman Lindsay made an inspiring contribution to Australian culture...
